As we celebrate the Jubilee Year 2025, Pope Francis reminds us that "hope should be granted to the billions of the poor who often lack the essentials of life" and that "the goods of the Earth are not destined for a privileged few but for everyone." (Spes Non Confundit, 15-16). This is a time for renewal, reflection, and action, and we are called to bring hope and fairness to the world.
On Tuesday, January 14, St. Ann’s Parish in Duncan will host a visit of the relics of St. Kateri Tekakwitha, St. Jean de Brébeuf, St. Charles Garnier, and St. Gabriel Lalemant. This visit is part of a national devotional tour which is offering Canadians the opportunity for an encounter with these great saints to receive the graces of healing and reconciliation for themselves, their families, and our country. The relics are expected to arrive at 11:30 am and will be welcomed by members of the Cowichan Nation. Celebration of the Eucharist will follow, and the relics will remain at St. Ann’s until 5:00 pm, open to all who want to visit and pray.
Mass times at parishes across our Diocese for Christmas (Dec 24/25) and the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God (Dec 31/Jan1) are listed on the Diocesan website (click Image for the linked information). More information will be added as it becomes available.

This year’s theme, “Hope and Act with Creation”, is inspired by the Letter of St. Paul to the Romans (Rom 8:19-25). The World Day of Prayer for the Care of Creation is celebrated every Sept. 1st. Click for the message from Pope Francis.
“God calls us to touch the lives of our aging, lonely, ill, palliative and dying sisters and brothers with accompaniment, kindness and compassion as the hands and face of Christ. The prayer Adsumus Sancte Spiritus has been historically used at Councils, Synods and other Church gatherings for hundreds of years. Attributed to Saint Isidore of Seville (c. 560 - 4 April 636), its name comes from the first words of the Latin original, and mean: “We stand before You, Holy Spirit,” As we are called to embrace this synodal path of journeying together, this prayer invites the Holy Spirit to operate within us so that we may be a community and a people of grace. For our gatherings, we will use a simplified version that any group can pray more easily:
